Refelction

When I first began thinking of what I wanted to do for my EDGE project I only knew that I wanted to do a project that involved my art minor. I then spoke with some friends of mine who had started small at home art businesses which they advertised through Instagram and Facebook. They told me that they had enough business to keep them busy, but not so busy that they were overwhelmed with work, responsibilities at home, and the business. Inspired by their successes, I decided to start selling my art through similar methods.  I knew in order to  be successful, I would need to step outside my comfort zone.  At first, it was really difficult for me to share my work, as this has always been a very personal part of my life.  After making that first step, I began to recognize the benefit of positive interactions and feedback from others.  Since I haven't enrolled in an art class in a while, I've been missing out on that important social aspect of creating.

I'm grateful for this Program at SUU for giving me the encouragement to try something new.  I believe many of us students need to take such opportunities more frequently, and the Education Designed to Give Experience Program makes that possible.  Although I am an not planning on pursing a full time career in the arts, my experience with this program has given me confidence, not only in sharing my creations, but in all my professional interactions.  This will doubtlessly bring me more success in my chosen career path.
